The final drafts of your essays were due this week. If you have any late work to get to me for LP3, please get it to me by Monday night at the latest. I will be putting in all final grades on Tuesday the 19th, so I will not be accepting any late work after Monday.
This week, we focused on a short story, "The Bet," by Anton Chekhov. The text of the story and literary response questions are attached below.
We discussed the literary response questions and worked on alternate endings to the story which will be incorporated into your newspaper projects.
For the two weeks of no onsite classes, please complete the following assignments:
1. Newspaper project for "The Bet" short story (attached below)
2. Literary response questions for "The Rules of the Game" by Amy Tan. Read the story here (questions attached below)
3. Complete the following poetry assignment: Click here. Review the different poetry formats. Compose a poem about any subject in the poetry format you like the most.
In today's class, we had a peer critique session on the character analysis essays.
The final drafts of your essays are due next class.
In today's class, we reviewed MLA formatting to help you format your character analysis essays correctly. I have attached the resource packet from today's class below. In class, we went through each aspect of formatting with examples. If you need additional help with MLA formatting on your essay, I recommend consulting The Owl at Perdue.
After the formatting lesson, students worked to make necessary formatting changes to their essays. Next class, we will be having a peer critique session on the rough drafts of your essays. The final drafts of your essays will be due next Tuesday/Wednesday.
I recommend using this web resource to create your works cited page:
This week, we went over how to compose body paragraphs and concluding paragraphs in an essay. Students completed these portions of the rough drafts of their character analysis essays.
Your rough draft is to be completed before going on break.
We will be having a peer critique session once we return.
Have a nice winter break :)
