Next, we continued working on the prewriting steps for a literary analysis essay on the play, Antigone. I handed out an assignment sheet for the rough draft of the essay (attached below). We discussed different aspects of the assignment. Students made progress on the essay steps, and I assisted students in their work.
For homework, continue making progress on your essay work. The rough draft of the essay is due by Friday, 1/12.
In the last week before break:
-We reviewed and discussed the final homework packet for the play, Antigone.
-We began our preparation for a literary analysis essay on Antigone. I handed out a list of suggested topics. Students began by selecting a topic, brainstorming, and organizing ideas for their essays.
-Additionally, students gathered textual evidence (quotes and passages from the play) to support their ideas. It is important that textual evidence is gathered before beginning a rough draft to ensure that your ideas can be supported by the text.
-I handed out a basic literary analysis essay outline as well as a detailed organizer. The detailed organizer worksheet is optional, but all students must organize their ideas, in some form, before writing. I have attached these worksheets below.
