1/3/18 - 1/5/181/5/2018 Welcome back! We began this week with an activity on goal setting for the new year. Students responded to the following prompt: Resolutions for the new year:
LINK TO VIDEO Next, we continued working on the prewriting steps for a literary analysis essay on the novel, The Call of the Wild. I handed out an assignment sheet for the rough draft of the essay (attached below). We discussed different aspects of the assignment. Students made progress on the essay steps, and I assisted students in their work. For homework, continue making progress on your essay work. The rough draft of the essay is due by Friday, 1/12.

12/11/17 - 12/15/171/2/2018 In the last week before break, we began our preparation for a literary analysis essay on The Call of the Wild. -With their topics selected from the list attached in last week's post, students began brainstorming and organizing ideas for their essays. -Additionally, students gathered textual evidence (quotes and passages from the novel) to support their ideas. It is important that textual evidence is gathered before beginning a rough draft to ensure that your ideas can be supported by the novel. -I handed out a basic literary analysis essay outline as well as a detailed organizer. The detailed organizer worksheet is optional, but all students must organize their ideas, in some form, before writing. I have attached these worksheets below.
